José Obscura
(Born Jocelyn Ramos; 1988. Queretaro, Mexico.) is a visual artist specializing in soft sculpture and stop motion. Previously entrenched in advertising and art direction, she redirected her artistic focus to breathe life into 'La Maquila Erótica.' This innovative initiative seamlessly intertwines sculpture, animation, design, and performance. José's mission is to establish secure spaces that promote the playful and conscious exploration of sexuality, cultivating awareness and introspection. Notable achievements in her career include the exhibition of Acid Candy at Galería HGZ and ZonaMaco 2024.
statement
Engulfed in the layers of societal guilt surrounding our bodies, I aim to provide a moment of compassion. An unapologetic dialogue releasing us from confining restrictions, offering a tender glance at the vulnerabilities of our intimate selves. Confronting shame with lightness, insisting that sexuality is a fortunate expression of our existence.
Let's explore through the senses—an opportunity to become sensitized and connect with ourselves. Come not only as an observer but as an active participant in a space for collective understanding and acceptance.
AFTERCARE
An invitation to suspend our thoughts and reconcile with our corporality.
